How hard is it to grow Creeping Thyme from seeds?

I have a formerly wild yard, Ive mowed it flat, Im getting it tilled up by a tractor Monday. I purchased about 5000sqft worth of seeds online and Im thinking I may just throw them down like lawn fertilizer. Any thoughts?
